Let's try to keep this as positive as possible...

I don't think I'm alone in saying that this was the nicest surprise of the lineup announcement. I'm really impressed that Lollapalooza managed to beat Coachella to the punch on this one. It seems like they've been heavily rumored to play in the past. They're the Lou Reed of 2011 I suppose.

Definitely a nice surprise.

Would you say they were just what the Lolla lineup needed?

Glad they are on the bill as I am unable to attend the Seattle show. Not as excited as you given that I saw the original line-up, but still looking forward to their set. Who is your #1? BAD? Foo Fighters?

I really liked seeing them on the line-up, but I am concerned that it is not the original line-up

Coldplay followed closely by The Cars and Foo Fighters

It's every living member of the band

But still too bad that Benjamin Orr died.

One of my dad's favorite bands when I was growing up was The Cars.
I'm eagerly looking forward to this set, even if they are going to be shorthanded.

I would rather see Todd Rundgren than The Cars.

Agreed. But the worst option would be Todd Rundgren as vocalist with "The Cars", like they did a few years ago. Bad idea.

I'm glad I never saw that.

I actually have that album and like it mainly because i love Todd and enjoy him doing what are essentially covers of Cars' songs. But yea...Todd doing his thing and The Cars doing theirs is the best result.

Edit: To Cosmo...i didn't either but i would have gone if the tour had come anywhere near here.

I want a picture with Ric Ocasek's Adam's Apple.

I listened to the new album at Rollingstone.com. It sounded pretty much the same as I remember them in the '80's. Sounded pretty good to me.

As long as they're not the part of Lou Reed that just had a bunch of feedback and shit coming out of the speakers for 20 minutes, delaying Band of Horses, thus causing BoH to play over into Jane's set and piss more people off.

On that note, great to see The Cars on the lineup. Few other bands that could take this slot could make me happier.

I'm well aware of The Cars' less than stellar reputation as a live act. Still, it's a bummer to see that inaction live and in person. The band sounded great, but their lack of movement and taciturn nature made for a boring night.

I'll probably still watch them at Lolla because there isn't a lot I want to see :/

I dont get this. Why can some bands like The Strokes get away with just standing there aloof but others dont? Is it the nature of the music?

Whenever I bought a record player, about 5 or 6 years ago, I immediately went to the thrift store and bought a handful of LPs. The self-titled Cars album was one of those and I had no idea how much of their music I already knew. It's been a heavy rotation go-to album ever since. It is really perfect in every way and this is definitely one of the top must see acts for me.
