A way that would make the crowd evenly split that involves Jane's Addiction.

SoaD has the rock crowd thing going for it. They would get the area with the bigger spaces, a la the Muse 2011 justification.
or for the sake of safety ie RATM 08.

1. Because they founded the festival, they are in the mix every year. It's just that some years are more probable than others.

2. Considering it's the first album since 2003, yes, but does it really matter? Why wouldn't Perry want to put his name back in the common music fan's mind, especially when it sold out last year and (assuming they continue down the same (shitty) path) could easily do it again next year?

3. The Black Keys have been confirmed to play odd numbered years for the next 10 years. Better start memorizing Howlin' For You lyrics.

Jane's has played once at Chicagopalooza. No reason to think they'll be back soon without any hype. And we all know Perry has little to do with booking. It's not like they will waste a headlining spot on Jane's just because Perry wants to play. There are lots of bands that would generate more hype and sell more tickets in that spot.

I think you mean even years with Keys. Cuz they didn't play 09 or 11 and next year is 12.

I don't think they'd bother booking them at this point, but there's no denying the band/perry has a huge connection to the fest.

I love that you, amongst others here, are short-sighted enough to assume that I have poor taste because I mentioned one band that you happen to not like. As for my name... yes, it is a reference to a Mumford and Sons song....but it is one that has strong personal meaning for me, so I went with it. That is more than I can say for a pointless reference to a scene from an episode of the Office being used as a message board name. Spend less time acting like you're superior to people making their first posts on this board, and more time focusing on your own insecurities, and maybe you can stop being such a miserable asshole. :)
