I can't remember which thread it was in, but didn't someone post a leaked Radiohead date at the Tweeter Center for June? That would surely count them out as well.

All of this makes Metallica sound more likely, which makes me :)

They definitely both could be. It's just more of a process of elimination thing. There's a very small group of acts that could potentially be top-line headliners and if RHCP and Radiohead are out, that seemingly raises the odds of getting Metallica (and Pearl Jam, whoever else).

Is everyone convinced Bjork will be a North side headliner? She was on the bigger stage versus The Killers in 2007 at ACL and second overall on their line-up (behind Bob Dylan, ahead of White Stripes before they canceled).

The last two years probably suggest otherwise huh?

Driftwood

Florence is easily going to get two gold albums.

Passion Pit sold out two Congress shows a couple of weeks apart. One the strength of one album (basically what Foster The People are now doing in Chicago).

I'm going to look up some "non-college" amphitheatre dates for Avett Brothers now.

thombjorke.

Yes, Florence is at a similar popularity level. But I think that Passion Pit and the Avetts aren't at the same level as her and VW.

01-20-2012, 12:45 PM
To me, VW was just "there" first and they are the face of the whole "indie goes mainstream movement," which is why they are the most likely to be at headliner status.
As for billing, I don't think it would be too much of a difference from last year for VW to be 5th this year and have an electronic headliner be 6th.
They could also be 6th, but there is no way they will be lower than that.

I think it's the "direction he wants to take it" but it's not there yet. Also, I think keeping one EDM act on the top 6 is probably a good approach spec-wise, since I think they're probably still going to want "big" people at Perry's. If SHM plays a main stage, Tiesto might still play, he'd just be at Perry's. Same with vice versa.

For some reason Metallica/Cure/TBK doesn't sound like a very strong top 3...Starting to think Radiohead might be back in the running. Those tour dates look completely and totally false the more you look at them.

2 nights in a row at MSG, and then one night at several other ampitheaters? The only comparison I can think of is Arcade Fire, who sold out MSG and then played Charter One....but they did three nights in Chicago, not just one. The venue is also incorrectly listed as being in Chicago (I know it was decided this doesn't have that much worth), but the name of the venue is also spelled wrong. The whole thing makes about enough sense to be believable but not much logistically.

I'm not saying since the dates look fake that they're for sure headlining, but I'm not kicking them out of my lineup.

My end-all-be-all Lollapalooza 2012:

Radiohead + Metallica + Pearl Jam
The Black Keys + Drake + EDM

From what I remember Kanye asked to be on the lineup after Radiohead, Rage and NIN were booked and initially he was 4th on the poster. Also a lot of people who attended Ye's UC show would never to come to Lolla. You can't really say that RCHP fans.

Pearl Jam's fanclub just tweeted that there is a huge announcement coming for Sunday. The tweets are usually riddled with hints as to what the announcement is about, so people have deduced this much:

"A little birdy told us to be sure your memberships are up to date by this Sunday afternoon. Have a nice weekend, all. xo"

XO+Sunday afternoon = something to do with football, could mean an appearance at the Super Bowl though I doubt it
birdy told US= the announcement will pertain to the USA
memberships up to date= obviously it'll be a members only thing, and I initially thought maybe the announcement would be that PJ is playing Sunday of Lollapalooza...but I don't see being a fanclub member having anything to do with that.

It could be a fall US tour announcement starting in Indianapolis (where the Super Bowl is), so if Chicago's out of the picture for that it could be a clue.

Just thought I'd bring it up.

Oh god, yes.
I am doing Indy Chicago and STL if it's a US tour

It's either going to be a US tour announcement or the release of some fan-club only special edition merch like an Alpine '11 bootleg boxset.

My + 10 club's 2 cents.

Metallica, Pearl Jam and The Cure would be a very good top three, though I think we only get two of them.

My only worry is that C3 might think it skews a bit "old" for the demographic. It might work if they load up on "young" acts on the North end (Drake, TBK, VW, EDM).

Well fuck, it looks like the announcement is an EV solo tour focusing on the south. Accidental Ticketmaster leak confirms him for a Jacksonville, FL date in May. Looks like he'll do a tour here before they head to Europe for the summer.

That sucks, I wanted PJ.

Couldn't get tickets to Chicago last year (or was it 2010? Whatever), but friends said it was a really good time. Some uke, some acoustic, plenty of PJ covers and other covers as well.

Opening act was Glen Hansard and he played plenty with him- I'm a huge Glen fan so that was a big part of the draw for me. Worth seeing probably, but not for the $120 that tickets cost in my opinion.

I can't find his net worth anywhere on the internet, but Soundgarden has only been reunited for a year and Pearl Jam probably made more money in the 90s than SG did, so I'm guessing his net worth is slightly less than that of other Pearl Jam members.
It's probably less than Cornell's, too, since he probably has made a bunch of money from Audioslave and shit.
It is probably more than Kim Thayil's and Ben Shepherd's, however.
For reference:
Gossard- $65 million
Vedder- $80 million
Cornell- $60 million

Those are the only three I've found with a cursory google search

He's done several solo tours, guest appearances, interview spots for documentaries/shows, etc....he's more of a public figure in the music industry than Stone is, whether its "right" or not. Bigger name, bigger chance to grab some cash over the years. It's really less than a million more a year since PJ started, which isn't THAT hard to believe.

Don't even pay attention to him.
He's just going out of his way to be awful.

He is book smart, but he is also socially inept and has horrible taste in everything else but just assumes his academic intellect can be applied to literally everything else.
It's a pretty tired shtick.

Animal Collective would have been a much better example, but once again, nik knows nothing about music.

I would see Justin Bieber or LMFAO over that shit.

Ohhhhh it i avant-garde there for I'll pretend to love it so I seem smart and cultured

I don't like Bjork either but this is a stupid statement.

What would you expect from someone whose dream #1 headliner is Adele?

There's a fine line between trolling and saying something like that.

Also, you don't get to talk shit about Nik, so shut up.

It's not like he's attacking some revered board treasure.
I am pretty sure that by opening an account you earn the right to call nik a moron.

Yeah I really don't that people on the board are pretending to like Bjork to be "avant-garde". Besides she has been around for over 20 years and is pretty mainstream at this point.

I still don't think it's right for n00bs to make fun of regulars. There used to be some standard on this board.

...Not really. My first post ever was making fun of a regular in the Miley thread, and no one gave me shit for it. (The shit I earned came a couple months later when I stopped making good posts.)

not to go off topic (aka back on topic) but would Springsteen - Metallica - RHCP be too old of a top 3?

Im really thinking the top 3/4 will be some combo of Bruce/Metallica/RHCP/The Cure/TBK

IMO, Bruce doesn't make sense at Lolla. I can't think of a past single headliner like him.
