Correct. You can make a good time out of a shitty lineup.

Just got the list of available bands for Labor Day weekend in Rockford, IL and based on the past three years, all bands on the list are available because they aren't playing Palooza.

I'll post all the bands later tonight but the acts that caught my eye include: Drake, Queens Of The Stone Age and Warrant.

I thought the lead singer of Warrant died.

Is that why it caught your eye?

Keep in mind, these bands are available in August as of this month. I guess they could be unsigned for Lolla as of now but working on a deal? The only one I've seen on these lists that ended up playing Lolla were the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in 2009.

Here's the list in no order at all: B-52s, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Huey Lewis & The News, Jamey Johnson, Willie Nelson, Asher Roth, Drake, Fitz and the Tantrums, J Cole, LMFAO, Nick Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Squeeze, Eli "Paperboy" Reed, George Clinton, Otis Day, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, The Roots, Ziggy Marley, Avett Brothers, AWOLNATION, Ben Folds, Black Label Society, Chickenfoot, Evanescence, Lenny Kravitz, Mutemath, My Chemical Romance, My Morning Jacket, Needtobreathe, OAR, Queens Of The Stone Age, Shinedown, Snow Patrol, The Bravery, The Donnas, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gov't Mule, Moe., Michael Franti & Spearhead, Umphreys McGee, 30 Seconds To Mars, Arcade Fire, Bush, Cage the Elephant, Cake, Jimmy Eat World, Korn, Neon Trees, Phoenix, Rob Zombie, Sevendust, The Decemberists, Wolfmother, Los Lobos, Mavis Staples, Flogging Molly

I kept stupid acts off the list like Backstreet Boys and Warrant. Cuz they're not fucking playing Lollapalooza no matter how shitty the fest has been in the past.

I really doubt any 2010 headliners will be there, so if you're thinking about The Strokes I'd lower your expectations. As far as I know the only headliner they ever brought back after 2 years is Kanye. (Not counting someone like Deadmau5 who didn't headline the first time around)

WAY too big. They'll NEVER play Rockford. In my opinion, they get this list, send it out to their advertisers to garner excitement. Then we get shit bands. The bands listed though are like a standard list they've received from booking companies, most likely William Morris being one.

Slightly bummed about Jimmy Eat World, QOTSA, Snow Patrol, and Rob Zombie but I'm not dying to see any of them.

From the Lollapalloza facebook page, brief summary:

"Every band who headlined last year, and Daft Punk"

This one guy and 2 of his facebook friends called me "gay" when I said realistically Daft Punk won't be there even though I wish they were.
Haven't been back since, it's not worth it.

No that's not what I meant at all. I just meant that TBK's best albums (in my opinion and what appears to be the publics opinions) are coming out now, and they're blowing up. Killers' albums were huge when they came out and they still hadn't headlined the UC, only the UIC Pav. But they've played MSG, which I had forgotten about, so the size of the arena they played in Chicago doesn't really matter.

The bit I said about Hot Fuss may be a bit biased because I don't really see it ever not being my favorite Killers record

Or would they most likely be the same spot as Beirut was last year.

I don't recall Beirut headlining the UIC Pavilion any time recently...

Kanye vs. his buddy Justin?? That wouldn't be cool.

Bon Iver can definitely take a 6 slot this year

To be fair, several sections of the show (especially in the upper deck) were closed/half-empty. But yeah.

Can't Bon Iver play at like 2PM again, in the rain? I don't want to see them with a massive crowd at night. That's snoozy.

Apparently not as bad as C3 is going to make the festival that you won't stop bitching about, yet spend every waking hour of your day on its website.

To me, Bon Iver is in that weird spot where they're huge, but don't make a lot of sense as a Lolla headliner. It would work best on the Grove stage, but they have too many fans for that.

(Note: I'm basing my opinion entirely off his recorded material)

There is absolutely no permissible excuse for Goodo missing P4k this year.

Way bigger than Beirut, but I think P4K is the more likely destination for them.

Agreed

I can't tell if you're getting legit mad at me or not. Either way, calm down duder.

Is there a reason why people refer to Jay Z and Kanye by their album title?
