You're much better off suggesting one or the other.
Jay did say they would be playing more shows in the future, so it's not any crazier than people suggesting Black Sabbath playing.

Think you're missing a #1 or #2, and Audio's list has me convinced there will be no Drake.
i actually still have a little faith that C3 will deliver us something more than just Metallica and Beck.
but unless it's the Throne or Radiohead again, i have 0 clue as to who the #1 will be.

In the future it might happen, but this summer is far too soon. And Sabbath at least has dates scheduled.

That's why I prefer when older bands still have a GA section. Not bound to find as many 40+ who will stand for a good 3 to 4 hours before a show starts and then the entire 2+ of the show.

Sigur Rós just announced playing Bestival in the UK. Not saying its possible, at all, just something to think/daydream about.
Band #1 on my bucket list. Although after how awful the Radiohead crowd was, not sure they would be enjoyable outside.

Probably a terrible band to see at a fest.
Festivals should close with awesome rockin music.
I don't dislike that type of music, but it really fucking belongs indoors.

I don't so much as think their music should only stay indoors, because I think the right outdoor setting could enhance the experience, however Lollapalooza is neither the setting, nor the right crowd

There isn't. But they were supposedly planning a June tour according to that guy who posts on here that organizes that fest in Nebraska.
And they were recording last Fall. I see them playing Lolla and then the album coming out by the end of the year or very early 2013.

In 2008 they were billed 13th at Bonnaroo, and haven't really done much as a band since. Though they are working on a new album, so with some big hype, maybe they could pull off being a north side headliner. Would the Grove fit them better? Or are they too big for that?
MookieDaddy
02-10-2012, 09:28 AM
We've already discussed that, they are too big for the Grove. They can sell out the Chicago Theater (3,600 capacity) within a day with no problem. None of the other bands that have headlined the Grove can say that.

I think if they have a new production/visual to their live show that requires them playing at night, and they play up the rarity of the reunion by not playing many US summer shows, they could be a good #6 against someone huge (Ye-Z, etc.)

what act (aside from Deadmau5) can be on that fringe?
assuming the Bassnectar @ Perry's leak is legit
justice, right?

As to LollaLeaker's (not Lollaleaks') Bassnectar post, is it necessary to point out that the act has multiple in-radius appearances over the next several months, including two April shows at the Congress Theater (shortly after the final lineup drops, most likely), shows in Madison and Indianapolis, and an appearance at the Electric Forest Festival less than six weeks before Lolla?

April shows don't mean shit. Radiohead played Indianapolis right around Lolla.

Justice from one perspective

i can actually see @LollaLeaker's post of Korn ft Skrillex at Perry's happening more likely than @LollaLeaks post of Korn subbing for Metallica.
unless they were each implying the same show and just titled it differently.
Keep in mind Korn was at Palooza when Perry took it back over in 1998. I have no problem believing Korn would play Lolla this summer, especially after Deftones played last year. It's not like they're any heavier or less relevant now.
No, I don't think this dude is legit, but I do think it's entirely possible Korn would play.

Korn is much more irrelevant now than in 1998

and the Deftones??
they haven't recently released an album featuring the bro trend at the moment.

i'd be surprised if korn did a rock set and a dubstep set.
my biggest issue with the idea of them playing a rock set is that they are still pretty close to a headliner. they headlined Mayhem 2 years ago and had a pretty fucking massive crowd.
having them sub for metallica makes a little less than good sense to me.
and the Deftones??
they haven't recently released an album featuring the bro trend at the moment.
I think Deftones releasing Diamond Eyes in 2010 (which was pretty well-received) kept them much more relevant than Korn who peaked in 98/99 and now are desperately trying to jump on the bandwagon of whatever the latest trend is.
Maybe this is just personal bias but I feel like Deftones have a lot more appeal to the festival/Lolla-going crowd than Korn does.

Is that really true? They get a ton of air time on the shitty rock station up here. It's hard for me to believe they've been bigger.

freak on a leash was their pinnacle, popularity wise, imo. no one i know who listened to them in 1998 is remotely interested in the current incarnation.

Way too big for Perry's stage

Seriously... I know Lolla has made some questionable bookings in the past, but they wouldn't do Korn. Some bands just totally don't fit the demographic, and I think Korn is one of them. Even with the Skrillex thing... Did any dubstep fans get that album?

Exceptions prove the well-known rule. I'm sure Radiohead has a lot more leverage than Bassnectar.

Korn too is inside the radius, pre-announcement. Otherwise, I would not be surprised to see them in a subheadlining slot.

How? I see them in Chicago in Feb.
