Sigur Ros would for sure be a sub, right? They're way too unknown here. If so, would they sub Bjork?

I hope so! Lolla Iceland 2012.

How many headliners have played in a different continent the week after lolla before?
Serious question, not sarcastic.

Black Keys are at that same fest with Bjork in Oslo. Also, just as a random example: in 2010 2mandjs played in Portugal Aug 4, Lolla Aug 6, and Ibiza Aug 13, so ya it has been done (granted, they are a Perrys headliner not a main)

it can definitely be done.

I don't think the Chemical Brothers are Bro enough for C3 to book them as the EDM headliner. Plus aren't they busy with scoring films and such now?

Is there any reason that we have stopped mentioning the Cure on these lists? They are doing festivals this summer (Europe only announced so far), but if they did do a US festival it would definitely be Lolla because they have already done Coachella and wouldn't really fit the demographic at anything else, amirite?

Also, aren't they supposedly playing MSG on August 1st or something? I mean if that's true I think there's a semi decent chance we get them still. Plus I think they fit the Lolla demographic much better than some of the names that are being thrown out here, just my opinion.

edit: I mean possibly ACL, but I still think Lolla is a better fit

WretchedSkye2113

they're still possible (i think CG kept them on his list).
just not recently mentioned.

So, about a month away from the lineup being released and all we have so far is:

-Some dude from inforoo claiming TBK said to him they're playing Palooza.
-Some dude at Ultra claiming there will be a big electronica headliner
-Passion Pit actually confirming their appearance.

This has to be a record, right?

Not sure of everyone's definition of metal, but these look like they qualify: Body Count 1991, Metallica 1996, Korn 1997

I think it's definitely something to consider that there have been very few metal acts recently at Lolla/at lolla at all... It could mean Metallica/Sabbath is more likely, or less likely.

IMO I don't quite buy Metallica or Sabbath yet.

Could we institute some sort of system whereby that1guy has to figure out what the fuck he's talking about before he posts something?

No objections. T'would probably do good.

Jack White is a headliner, and this proves it.

Oh, holy shit, I didn't realize that show happened. Look at that set! I didn't want to get my hopes up that I'd ever see him do White Stripes songs again, but there you go. Hopefully all the shows are that good!

Did you really not think he wouldn't pull out the big guns for his solo sets?

I mean he wrote the damn songs.

That is really exciting...but I mean come on, what did you guys expect? I wouldn't have expected anything less. Now I am looking forward to see if he switches it up a lot. With such a deep catalog, every night should be a sweet surprise!

I hope he keeps dead leaves and the dirty ground... would like to see him add level/consolers of the lonely and icky thump/300 mph torrential outpoor blues. Hearing dead leaves and the dirty ground live would make me soooooo happy

If this is legit, and I can't tell since I no habla espanol, it's a good news/bad news deal.

Good news: They're on this side of the Atlantic on that weekend.

Bad news: If the date is correct, I can't imagine they play one day in Chicago and the very next in MC, or vice versa.

Kasabian plays new York march 22, Mexico city march 23, then Boston march 27th. Not that kasabian and Metallica are comparable, but it certainly can be done.

So every year since 2008 Lolla has shared a headliner with Reading.
2008 RATM
2009 KOL
2010 Arcade Fire
2011 Muse
This year the headliners are expected to be Kasabian, Foo Fighters and The Cure. Hopefully this trend continues and we get The Cure this year.

The Throne- The Cure- The Black Keys
Jack White- Beck- Justice

Damn those would be some brutal conflicts.
