Then why did he skip Chicago?

I think we should rank the Osheaga acts in order of a likely Lolla 2012 appearance and compare our lists.

Really? Cause I think Metric are more likely than Franz or Bloc Party.

I think my reason for Bloc Party is pretty valid.

Why on earth won't Silversun Pickups be a sub - they were only one slot lower last time?

I guess you're right about SSPU, they just don't seem that big.

Your reasoning is valid for Bloc Party but I just really think they will be there. Metric just played in 2010 behind Fantasies and hasn't really gotten much bigger. They definitely could play but a band like Franz that has never played Lolla seems way more likely.

Working on my order list for Osheaga.

Does everyone really find my prediction disappointing after seeing Osheaga?

Shins -> Black Keys vs M83 -> Avicii vs Odd Future vs Garbage
Big Boi -> RHCP vs Silversun Pickpus -> Jack White vs Kaskade vs Miike Snow
Marilyn Mason -> Metallica vs Passion Pit -> Florence & The Machine vs Justice vs The Gaslight Anthem

Metric hasn't gotten any bigger because they've done nothing recently. The new album drop will get things going again, and playing twice in 3 years is reasonable, given that they'd be supporting a different album.

Your prediction goes in line with last years smaller non-impressive subs. I think a lot of us are starting to think/hope that was just a down year and we will be back to something like 09 and 10.

I'd be pleased with that, but I'm going for $75. No Bloc Party would really suck. Franz isn't that huge for me.

Osheaga list:

Most likely to least likely:
The Black Keys
The Shins
Passion Pit
Florence + the Machine
Of Monsters and Men
Bombay Bicycle Club
Gary Clark Jr.
Little Dragon
The Walkmen
Justice
Garbage
Bloc Party
The Weeknd
Amadou and Mariam
Franz Ferdinand
M83
Yeasayer
Sigur Ros
Metric
Brand New
MGMT
Snoop Dogg

Somewhat certain we will get the bolded ones.

First part has good chance of playing from Osheaga, second part is an even bet or so and last part I think are unlikely to play (not individually - just given the assumption that I think Osheaga will be somewhat unique and not just Lolla minus some headliners). Notice how the first list is still the biggest - I just don't think it will be all the big names.

I'm pretty sure that all of these will be at Lolla - TBK (reluctantly, radius clause, etc.), Shins, Garbage, A&M, Flo, Gary Clark, Jr., Sigur Ros, Zola Jesus, Franz, Black Angels, The Walkmen, Justice

I think there's a good possibility of these as well - M83, Of Monsters and Men, Dum Dum Girls, Bloc Party, Austra, The Weeknd, MGMT, Bombay Bicycle Club, Tame Impala, Little Dragon

why would you say that? I personally like electronic music and have been following the scene for a few years. Avicii's rise to popularity has been incredible and he sells out shows just because of his name and "Levels". Most people who go to the shows in the US don't know of his music, except for "Levels" and if he could sell out shows for one song earlier in the year, imagine what he can do now that people have listened to more of his music.

Bloc Party has a show in LA Friday and Montreal Sunday, playing 3 shows across the continent in 3 days seems like a bit much. Metric are more highly regarded in Canada, and played Lolla just 2 years ago.

Friday of Osheaga is the first date in Sigur Ros's festival tour; the next scheduled date is in Japan, but that leaves 2 weeks of free time. Would make a lot of sense to do Lolla and Outside Lands in the meantime.

I thought I had the worst name on the board...but I would like that lineup.

Black sabbath vs chu Chang and the machine
Black keys vs bjork
Jack white vs justice

Sabbath this year, Metallica next year. Or, Metallica this year if Sabbath doesn't have it together.

Haha. I used to just go by Spoonman, but when they switched everything over, I could no longer login with that name. No idea why

Hence the Jan 2010 Join Date

reading too much into that tweet and being as optimistic as possible...

Metallica * Kanye West * System of a Down
The Black Keys * Jack White * Beck

Marilyn Manson -> SoaD v The Black Keys <- The Shins
Silversun Pickups -> Jack White v Kanye West <- The Roots
Garbage -> Beck v Metallica <- At the Drive In

Sigur Ros, M83, and Zola Jesus doing closing sets at whatever stage wherever and whenever you see fit. idfuckingk.

I thought Eddie was playing solo shows in Europe during Lolla?

Regarding PJ in general...

There's always 2013. Maybe they are the #1 next year?

Here it is Wretched (bolded are my choices):

The Head & The Heart -> Shins (La Roux) Black Keys vs Metric -> M83 (DJ) Avicii vs Odd Future vs Garbage
Santigold -> Gotye (Big Boi) RHCP vs Airborne Toxic Event -> Silversun Pickpus (DJ) Jack White vs Kaskade vs Miike Snow
The Hives -> Marilyn Mason (The Darkness) Metallica vs The Temper Trap -> Passion Pit (DJ) Florence & The Machine vs Justice vs The Gaslight Anthem

TBK, JW, and Metallica?
could work with that.

actually, might check out Garbage instead of TBK. assuming this is the new expanded Grove-like thing we've speculated upon and that there are 4 bands ending the night. which seems to be what you're suggesting.

Saw them here in Jax at the vintage Florida Theatre (awesome venue). They blew the roof off the fucking place. Everybody in Jax likes 311 or Sublime, so we had great seats.

Black Keys are gonna be a Friday. They have a show in saturday and they aren't a closing band, more of an opening band.

Osheaga disagrees (which, consequently is why they definitely won't be playing the Sunday of Lolla).
