never going to happen.
Probably not. But, we can dream.
You're probably right. Die Antwoord isn't really too keen on traveling to N.A.
Outside of a few gigs around the East Coast and Canada (around the time of the Letterman appearance).
I doubt if they'd want to fuck with traveling here for Lolla. But, you never know.
I guess that's what makes threads like this fun.
Speculation.
Are you just ignoring the majority of the posts here or..?

Sharon's comments regarding Black Sabbath playing one North American show in August that she has to wait for the promoter to announce. Presumable headliner Black Keys is only available to play Friday, leaving only Saturday or Sunday for Sabbath to play. As is tradition, a veteran headliner (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, RHCP, Nine Inch Nails, Jane's Addiction, Poo Pushers) plays Sunday. Sabbath is a veteran headliner.

in regards to SHM:
1. eric prydz hasn't been considered part of SHM for years (just clarifying) and he's also afraid of flying so don't count on him being in the states very often
2. group DJs will often be billed as the whole group, but only 2 of 3 will be present on certain dates or the whole tour. it is possible that despite one being in europe they'd just have 2/3 of the SHM headline
And IMO all the rumors for the EDM headliners are not accounting for dubstep, considering the genre of EDM that's been represented at Perry's in years past. avicii, SHM, and justice is all i've been hearing and none of them step on the dub. just sayin'.

Justice is a borderline headliner, they could easily be a 6 or a Perry's closer. So what if they are a just a Perry's closer?

I totally hear ya. But Phoenix had one breakout album. Mumford has one, plus a new sophomore album. Not saying it'll happen, but I think it's possible. And you're right, Florence could be #6 too.
In Nashville, Marcus said they were going home to finish the album. I interpreted it to mean they'd be back to tour when it was done. They've been working on it for ages and then they schedule more dates and it doesn't get done. I'd be really stunned if they played this year.

I want to see Jack White rock 50,000 people like they've never been rocked before.
I saw Sabbath in 98 at Ozzfest. It's funny cause at the time I was like, damn, Ozzy looks old up there. It was cool hearing classics like War Pigs, but it still definitely felt like seeing a band past their prime. Now it's only 14 years later...

This. Definitely. I had friends that saw Sabbath on the same Ozzfest and had the same reaction. Good for the Trapper Keeper, but not a great or really all that enjoyable performance. For this reason, I hope they're not at Lolla. Plus I think with the history of Ozzfest (as a successful touring festival separate from Lolla) and the legacy of Sabbath themselves, they should have their own event, where they could take a much larger check home, and make it much more worth their while. I'm thinking Sharon said she had to wait to announce it because of Iommi's health, because that still puts a big ? on whether or not they'd be able to do anything. Just 'cause she said August, doesn't mean it has to be Lolla.

Jack White is a headliner. He is #1 at Sasquatch and #3 at Hangout behind Dave Matthews and RHCP. There's really no reason at all to think that he isn't. I don't get where this is coming from. if you can back up your feelings that he is not a headliner, then I will gladly be proven wrong.

I think he got the #1 spot at Sasquatch because of the fact that its his first show. And I guess, now that I look at it, there is no one on the line-up bigger than Jack White (Beck may be close)
I am also leaning towards the idea that Jack White and Justice are probably not both headliners. Would Lolla really release clues for two headliners on the first day of the new game?

Justice has high billing at Osheaga, but we have to consider they're still billed below Snoop Dogg who was a subheadliner in 2009. I agree that it would be weird to give us two of the top 6 on the first round of clues and Jack is undeniably bigger (now that we know he's playing material from the whole catalog).
If we're getting two mainstage EDM headliners as Perry suggested, it could be Avicii and SHM (minus Axwell) the first two nights with Justice closing down the Grove/Perry's on Sunday. The Coachella billing suggests that Justice is bigger than Avicii, but a look at their venues suggests the opposite. I think the same can be said for their scheduling at Ultra, too.

If you insert two huge EDM acts into the billing, it puts acts like Justice, Sigur Ros and Florence and the Machine in a perfect position. in regards to SHM:
1. eric prydz hasn't been considered part of SHM for years (just clarifying) and he's also afraid of flying so don't count on him being in the states very often
2. group DJs will often be billed as the whole group, but only 2 of 3 will be present on certain dates or the whole tour. it is possible that despite one being in europe they'd just have 2/3 of the SHM headline
And IMO all the rumors for the EDM headliners are not accounting for dubstep, considering the genre of EDM that's been represented at Perry's in years past. avicii, SHM, and justice is all i've been hearing and none of them step on the dub. just sayin'.
God, this whole EDM thing is so far beyond me. Could Muse have headlined if Matthew Bellamy just decided to stay home or play a solo show elsewhere? Hell no.

Looks like another bait and switch. Who is the traditional Perry's act playing on Saturday? Everyone seems set that when Avicii / Justice / SHM / Kaskade or whomever plays the North that they'll put a non-traditional Perry's act at "new Perry's" (which I'm not even convinced of) but you can't have Jack White on North and stick Passion Pit at "new Perry's".

EDM is bigger in 2012 than 2011 so yes I do think that first group is bigger in the first sentence. Girl Talk played fests like 80/35.

From the shirt from last year, Cold War Kids was originally billed after Atmosphere and before Skrillex & Lykke Li, in case anyone cared.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this was some kind of glitch on the website or something.

One more shot over lunchtime:
Black Sabbath * Red Hot Chili Peppers * The Black Keys
Jack White * Swedish House Mafia * Justice * Avicii
Florence + The Machine * At The Drive-In * Passion Pit
Sigur Ros * The Shins * Garbage * The Weeknd
Odd Future * Miike Snow * Childish Gambino
St. Vincent * The Hives * Steel Pulse * Girls

I think the same can be said for their scheduling at Ultra, too.
kaskade -> justice -> avicii since justice just subbed for avicii at ultra

While this point is not important, because I agree Avicii is the bigger act, just wanted to point out that closing a stage does not equal headlining a stage at Ultra.

Can I get another explanation how Justice is big enough to headline?
I just don't see it. Avicii, Bassnectar, and Kaskade all play much bigger venues. Justice's last album was a flop and the previous album that got them buzz came out in 2007.
I would be willing to wager something on this.

I see it this way, Swedish House Mafia(2 of the 3), and avicii being the headliners. Justice headlining perrys a night. I just don't see how Jack White is big enough for a headliner either, even the white stripes didn't headline anything really. I see him being a sub for like RHCP or TBK. Plus Justice, RHCP, SHM, Avicii, Sabbath, and Florence could all draw bigger crowds then him.

White Stripes were going to headline ACL before canceling. Dare I say their version of our South stage? I think this bumped Muse up from being a sub to headlining?
Jack White is going to headline.

I was just looking at Florence's tour dates guys and they go:
25 JUL 2012 MORRISON, CO RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER
29 JUL 2012 INDIANAPOLIS, IN THE LAWN AT WHITE RIVER STATE PARK
30 JUL 2012 CLEVELAND, OH JACOBS PAVILION AT NAUTICA
31 JUL 2012 DETROIT, MI FOX THEATER
2 AUG 2012 WEST TORONTO, ON MOLSON AMPHITHEATER
3 AUG 2012 MONTREAL OSHEAGA FESTIVAL
8 AUG 2012 OSLO ØYA FESTIVAL
9 AUG 2012 GOTHENBURG WAY OUT WEST FESTIVAL
This makes me think she is somewhat unlikely for Lolla. She hits the midwest at the end of April and then on this tour she plays Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Detroit on her way east to Toronto and Montreal before flying back to Europe for a show on the 8th.
She obviously COULD come back west to Chicago for Lolla on Sunday, but do we think she will?

It could happen, but we're trying to figure out which of these Osheaga acts won't play Lolla since there are far too many.

If you check out the UMF Buenos Aires fest's facebook page, Justice is at the top of the bill with Kaskade and John Digweed just below them. It also seems like Justice's font size is about 5 - 10 points larger. Maybe people just love to D.A.N.C.E.?

Also wrt to the December show - it was the XRT Christmas show right at Chicago Theatre? She can move a lot more tickets at this point (heck even then after selling out Aragon in June). It's also a no-brainer booking for Lolla -shes' done Roo and Coachella twice by then. Never played Lolla - fits the indie going on mainstream dynamic perfectly ...

Driftwood

Starting to doubt SHM and that website listing August 3rd.
Wouldn't them, Avicii, Justice and Kaskade be overkill for the top of the bill? All would be in the top 12 (maybe even 10?) in a old Perry's mixed into the main line-up billing system right?
