You do realize that Eddie is in Europe during Lolla right?
He's at a fest in Portugal Friday night. Fest is 3 hours from Lisbon, from which he can get on one of these newfangled airplane things and be in Chicago Saturday evening.
Or he can spend a couple of days surfing in Europe.

Its one of 2 shows out of hundreds and possibly thousands I've been to that I have walked out of. Third Eye Blind was the other.

ATDI is not a headliner. So let's move this talk to another thread.
How much has Linkin Park been discussed? New single out in a couple weeks, rumored tour with Incubus this summer. Seems possible, right?
And please don't kill me. I hate those bands too.

I've been posting here since August. At what point will I no longer be considered a n00b? I'm dying to know.
The ATDI talk is just getting a little tiresome. All we have to go by is the money thing and nothing has changed over the past few months regarding their availability. Plus, they're not headliners.
But they're 2nd billed on their day at Coachella.

YOUNG GAY REPUBLICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS
You may all relax now, I think it's safe to scratch Wilco entirely off the list of possibilities. From their facebook page: "Hoping for some hang time with this guy come July... maybe we'll all watch fireworks over midwest skies." Google tells me "this guy" is the mascot for the Kane County Cougars minor league team, right outside of Chicago.
I'm glad they're not headlining, but Wilco at a baseball stadium for the 4th of July actually sounds pretty alright.

My all-time top headliner - idk - might be Portishead. But that would probably not happen, ever. Maybe if they officially write/release some new stuff before the year is over. And some people realize that they are kinda around again they could get decent billing next year. But as the general mood was mentioned earlier on here the fest is more for new-ish or more current and PH really aren't 'newish' enough even with new material.

Dylan has made two of his (or anyone's) best albums in the last decade or so. And while he can be inconsistent live (always gnomic and not necessarily performing the tunes as expected), it's not like his voice was ever "great," and his high-quality band can still put on a very good show. People often come away from them disappointed because the words are more important in Dylan's music than most people's, and he's hardly free of the common difficulty on focusing on them in the live context, but they're at least in part at fault for not listening well enough.
If you've never seen him, I'd strongly recommend it.

I personally don't think any artist's past achievements are enough to cover decades of shitty performances. If you've found a way to enjoy the performances (whether it's the lyrics or whatever), good for you. It's just bullshit to say people aren't enjoying it because they aren't listening well enough.

It would be ludicrous to pay $230 for three full headlining sets; realistically, I spend far more time with the undercard each day of the fest, so I'm more interested in that.

Yeah, but you can see the majority of them (with the exception of rare acts) once a year or so at the Metro or the Vic for $15-20, often 3-4 months after the festival. I think the headliners justify the cost of a ticket since you'd have to pay somewhere near $100 to see them in an arena anyway.

Basically if the six headliners come from: SHM, Justice, Kaskade, Avicii, RHCP, The Black Keys, Killers, Florence, Passion Pit, Jack White - I will be beyond pissed.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if 5 of the headliners are there though.
After seeing how low Passion Pit was billed at Firefly I can't see them headlining.

I never understood why anyone thought Passion Pit could headline anyway. I always thought that was ridiculous.

The fact this is even possible makes me feel less pissed at not going to lolla.

I won't be pissed. In fact, I'm looking for an excuse to not go so I can check out a different fest this year. With that said, I'm having pre-regret at not going because I feel the non-headliners are going to be the best ever. So confuse.

The bands released thus far are suspiciously good.
I think they are trying to appeal to the type of folks who are basically ready to jump ship on the fest and we're going to get every single good band prior to the lineup announcement.

If I could see Jack White, the Killers, and Florence/Passion Pit I'd be pretty happy. No big tickets really but those would be great shows.
That being said, I really don't see the Killers playing though.

I should probably get myself to think this. But my hopes are way too high right now.

I guess amend SHM / Justice to SHM / Justice / Kaskade to satisfy SecondSet and to acknowledge some of the venues Kaskade is playing.
Also maybe Florence still headlines and TBK are a #2. Can't see Florence and RHCP being the last two pieces though as I agree that a repeat #1 with a show that close to the fest makes no sense.
I don't think Justice is a headliner. I sort of doubt Kaskade is either, though I guess it's possible. I think Bassnectar may be bigger than him. Florence could be big enough to headline, but I think they're RHCP's sub.

Kaskade and Passion Pit, I really don't see either of them headlining lolla at this point. That would literally be the cheapest top 6

Don't believe in the whole "slots" thing but we've tended to have older acts in the "7 slot" - Love & Rockets, Lou Reed, Social Distortion, A Perfect Circle.

As long as WTT and Jack White don't conflict I really like that top 7.

I have them against one another.
WTT vs. Jack
TBK vs. EDM (SHM?)
RHCP vs. EDM (Avicii?)
